HMS ''Asheldham'' was one of 93 ships of the of inshore minesweepers. Their names were all chosen from villages ending in ''-ham''. The minesweeper was named after Asheldham in Essex. HMS ''Asheldham'' (Pennant number M2604) was a member of the first series of ''Ham''-class minesweepers, with composite wood and aluminium construction.
